Abstract
AGILE detected intense gamma-ray emission above 100 MeV from a new unidentified source at high Galactic latitudes (AGL J1023-3738), with Galactic coordinates (l, b) = (273.1, 16.5) +/- 0.7 (95% stat. confidence level error box radius). Integrating from 2009-12-25 22 30 UT to 2009-12-27 22 10 UT, a maximum likelihood analysis yields a detection at a significance level larger than 5 sigma, and a flux F = (300+/-100)10-8 ph/cm2/s (E > 100 MeV).
